I frequently struggle trying to explain data science to non-technical people. I have been trying to come up with a one-sentence description.
Storing, analyzing, and presenting information to improve decision making.

Great! I would just add “Scrubbing” or “Munging” as the second word.

I would add the word “data” just to make even clear the “analyzing” part.
