New Data Science eBook – Free and Open-Source

Jeffrey M. Stanton, member of Syracuse University’s iSchool, just released an open-source ebook about data science. Obviously this book is intended to be used in the curriculum for the new Data Science Certificate Program. In particular, it will be used for two courses on analytics and visualization.

The book is available in the iTunes store or as a PDF. See the book website to get your copy.

The links no longer point to the book.

Thanks for the tip. It appears the website is no longer available. I have contacted Professor Stanton to see if the book or website will be available in the future.

      Thanks,
      Ryan

The link for jsresearch.net has gone again.
I’ve managed to get the book from the http://surface.syr.edu/istpub/165/ link, but I can’t find a way of getting the example code.

      Gary,
There is a Github repository, but I am not sure if it contains all the source code or not.

Thanks for the suggestion. It only has three pieces of code (I assume for specific things in the book), so I am guessing this is not the complete set.
However, it does include a text-only version of the book, so the code could at least be lifted from that.

        Regards,
        Gary.

I have contacted Dr. Stanton to see if the code is available anywhere.
